Lorena is a documentary photographer and curator. She has produced photo-based history projects for museums in Oregon and California, worked with a community of Afro-Colombian fishermen living outside of Cartegena to produce the photo project, "La Boquilla", and women and children impacted by the genocide in Rwanda.

Lorena believes that photography can be a significant way to express the obvious but unseen. In her community-based work she has seen it serve as a dynamic tool that unites and express a people's collective beliefs, aspirations, and anxieties, and ignite public discussion.

Lorena splits her time between New York City and Los Angeles where she teaches photography at Cal Poly Pomona.
