I create multi-media art that explores the nature of identity. I work between two- and three- dimensional forms to create paintings, mosaics, assemblage and artist books.
A lot of my work addresses belonging and isolation as I am intrigued by multi-cultural issues and the complicated sense of identity within each of us. As I watch border tensions escalate around the word and immigration policies shift in this country, my work increasingly returns to experiences of displacement. It also speaks to the multicultural population of South Florida, especially as we wrestle with the idea of what is ‘exotic.’
