Michelle Vara’s is a multimedia artist.
Vara is interested in the politics of the universal consciousness and tethered to the lineage of the Abstract Expressionists, which engages with Jungian ideals that there is a shared consciousness which is tapped into and revealed through the viewers' engagement with abstracted color and form. She investigates relationships between man, nature, ecology, social and political events.
Vara obtained her MFA from Plymouth University in the UK. Plymouth’s unique program included traveling, showing, lecturing and teaching abroad. She has worked for MGM Studio, Disney, NYC Ballet, Adirondack Scenic, Michael Haggen Studio, as the head sculptor and scenic painter.
Vara opened Ballard Road Art Studio, in Wilton/ Saratoga NY.
Where she creates physical artwork, secures grants and commissions in multimedia projects. She keeps a vigorous show schedule and has secured permanent sculpture in the Kingston Maritime Museum, The Adirondack Museum, Noyes Museum, New York State, Lakes to Locks, and more.
