Artist Michael A. Williams is a native of Memphis, TN and has been legally blind since birth with Stargardts. Mr. Williams is self taught and an award winning artist, having won 3 out of 4 entries in the American Printing House for the Blind "Insight Art competition for Blind and Visually Impaired Artists" in Louisville, Ky with 3rd place in 2009 out of 420 entries, 2nd place in 2010 out of 300+ entries and 1st place in 2012 out of 400+ entries. Mr. Williams is also the founder of the International Association for Sight Impaired Artists-Global,a non-profit organization in development to encourage individuals who are blind or visually impaired to get involved in the visual arts as painters, sculptors, designing, photography and other forms of 2 and 3 dimensional art. Michael Williams has been featured on several news stations in San Antonio, TX and Memphis, TN, as well as several newspapers and a radio station in Memphis, TN to talk about his disability and art organization. Artistt Michael Williams has had several joint art shows with his mother Mattie Williams, who is also on Art in Embassies and he has had several art exhibits around the Memphis TN and Olive Branch, MS area.
