Alanna Nelson

“Carpe Diem” - seize the day - is my motto. Are we able to appreciate the world around us? What can we actually seize? My fiber art seeks to connect place and time with fabric and stitch.

Inspired by my daily routine, I capture vistas, events and details. While manipulating and embellishing fiber, the memory and zeitgeist allow me to savor those moments.

A knitter, sewist and embroiderer, my experience with making beautiful and useful items began as a child. Applying this experience in my art, I capture moments, rich in detail, offering you an opportunity to consider and reflect. I have been lucky enough to live in Italy, Tunisia and in four regions of the USA, taking my training as a geographer and planner and applying it to creative place shaping projects.
