arlette jassel

Havana, Cuba is my birth city, the ballet was my first art but painting became my mode of expression at the High School of Music and Art. The cultures of Europe melded in the NYC in which I grew up and received a BFA from Hunter College. Flowers had been the ballet as I dreamed it. They were the essence of feminine grace. They have since evolved into drones and stones and energetic life forms. I am taken with petal movement; roses are spirals and iris are flying machines with outstretched wings. These flowers can be intelligent and resourceful.
