Jasmine Little

I use drawings and ceramic models of events as reference for my paintings as a way of constructing some of reoccurring images in my mind. Memory is a subjective personal experience, which changes with the passing of time, and can be reconstructed to serve any means. Authorship is asserted and memories are curated to construct one’s internal autobiography.
My paintings are not always literal depictions of actual events, but can be seen as markers of the feelings attached to specific memories. Often, memories are associated directly with people and places, the land can be seen as a site loaded with content by the humans that inhabit it. The landscape used in the paintings is known intimately to the artist and is used to ground some of the narrative in a specific space and time.
My intention with my work is to propose a feeling or thought and suggest further investigation to the viewer, while remaining open to any interpretation.
