Joshua Hogan

Joshua Hogan is an abstract, contemporary painter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Carlow College in 1997.

In 1997, Hogan's painting "Choice" was accepted by curator Madeline Grynsztejn into the 87th Annual Associated Artists of Pittsburgh Exhibition at the Carnegie Museum. During this exhibition, The Greater Latrobe Senior High School, in an event called Art Gala, selected his piece as first place and purchased it for their collection of "art unique to southwestern Pennsylvania in the high school." This was a tremendous honor as "this project was initiated more than 60 years ago and has since spawned a catalog of all the art on collection" by Latrobe High School.

In 1998, Hogan launched BoxHeart Gallery with his wife, Nicole Capozzi. Located in Pittsburgh's "Little Italy," BoxHeart represents and exhibits emerging and mid-career artists whose artwork exemplifies the diversity and originality of contemporary art and fine craft.

In 2004, Hogan worked with professional assemblage artist Brenda Stumpf to create "The Unspoken," which was later exhibited at Mosaic the Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio. Hogan's solo exhibition, "Ardent Heart" was exhibited in November 2007 at moxie DaDA Gallery in Pittsburgh. This exhibition was reviewed by art critic Kurt Shaw and appeared in The Pittsburgh Tribune Review, as 'Ardent Heart' Opens as Poetic Portraiture. Hogan's painting "I Have No Idols" was selected for the Westmoreland Museum of Arts Biennial in 2010 and his painting "Sky Stained Purple," was selected by juror Barbara McNulty for the "Images 2012" exhibit, a juried exhibition for fine art and fine craft to compliment the nationally recognized Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. Recent exhibitions of his artwork took place at The Westmoreland Museum of Art in Greensburg Pennsylvania.

In addition to exhibiting his paintings regionally and nationally, Hogan is also a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and works within the entertainment industry as a scenic painter. Most recently he has worked in the art department on productions such as; The Perks of Being a Wallflower (feature film), Those Who Kill (television series), and Jack Reacher (feature film).
