Monika Teal is an international artist with double citizenship, living and working in Switzerland and the United States. A strong influence on her sensibilities were from a German mother and a rural American father with Native roots.
She has exhibited internationally for over 40 years, across the USA and Europe, as well as artist in residence and exhibiting artist invited by the Cuban Union of Writers and Artists. Her works on paper and her 3D objects resonate with the symbolism of her paintings.
An early feminist, much of Teal's work responds to the consciousness of being a woman and seeing through a woman's eyes Her work concerns itself with the interpretations of often overlooked subjects and how to raise our consciousness of our shared place in the world.
