A multi- disciplinary artist educator in painting, Arabic calligraphy and writing working through literature, painting, illustration and graphic design. He works using the language of abstraction with elements of figuration to explore portraits, nature and music through imaging with Arabic Calligraphy. Jabir’s work and pedagogic approach explores global connections and cultural dialogue. He has mounted many solo- shows (including “Women in T S Eliot’s Poetry” at The British Council Khartoum in 1992 and “Kandakas Pearls of the Nile” at The Humble Gallery” in London in 2019) and has led many workshops and participated in numerous group exhibitions worldwide. He is a winner of Noma International Prize for Picture Book Illustrations, Asian/Pacific Centre for UNESCO, Japan in 1994, 1998 and 2000.
