Ann Deutermann is a contemporary figurative painter. Her paintings are not individual portraits but rather expressions of something universally human. She is also interested in an exploration of femininity and spirituality. These ideas are expressed through the manipulation of surface texture, color relationships, light, gesture, and the interconnection of the figure with it's environment. Ann Deutermann holds her bachelors degree from the University of Maryland in commercial art. She later decided to focus solely on fine art and studied drawing and painting at the Washington Studio School. Her work has been exhibited at Waverly Street Gallery, Montpelier Arts Center, The Metro Gallery, Remix boutique and gallery, and Create Expressive Art Center.
