About the author

I have been a quilter for more than 40 years. I began making art quilts and fiber art in 1989:when my first entry into a fabric challenge was accepted to travel with the Hoffman Challenge exhibit. I am been making fiber art ever since. My style and subjects have morphed through the years but I have always had a love for vibrant colors, whimsical designs, pets and nature. Living in Key West I am surrounded by ocean and tropical flora and fauna for inspiration. I have some amazing photographer friends who allow me to use their photos for inspiration. I have exhibited locally at the Studios of Key West, The Customs House, Sodu Gallery, Lemonade Stand Gallery, the Gato Building, the Seam Shoppe, the public library and local arts and crafts events. Nationally my art has been in traveling exhibits like the Hoffman Challenge, New Quilts from an Old Favorite (American Quilt Museum), Keepsake Challenge, American Quilt Society shows, Chula Vista Library and others. I was awarded grants from the Florida Keys Art Council for Artists in the Schools for 4 years. I used the moneys with my class at Gerald Adams Elementary School. We did monthly fiber art projects and made a class quilt every year that we displayed in the annual art show there. My art covers many areas from collages to precision piecing, elaborate quilting and threadwork, and embellishing with beads, found objects and natural materials. I have designed the pattern for the Row by Row Experience for the Seam Shoppe for the last 4 years. Presently I am making pet and house collages for several clients as well as exploring new techniques with dyes, paints and fibers. Designing with fabric and fibers in my spare bedroom/studio has become more than a hobby since I retired from teaching a year ago. I continue to pursue opportunities to exhibit my art locally and nationally with a Facebook page, Instagram and Square. I have taught fabric and fiber art at the Studios of Key West, the Seam Shoppe, Paradise Quilt Guild and in my home. I continue to teach fiber art, quilting, beading and embroidery whenever I can.
