About the author

Born and raised in New Jersey, and currently living in New York, Karl Lorenzen began his studies and career in commercial art as a graphic artist and designer for the apparel and print industries. He later studied and taught the arts of Sacred Geometry, (a hybrid of art, the sciences, and spirituality) and gives workshops and exhibits at national and international conferences, symposiums, galleries, museums, and cultural centers. Lorenzen is a faculty member of the New York Open Center, and a teaching artist - in - residence at the Omega Institute, two leading centers of holistic, wellness, and world cultural / spiritual studies in the United States. He also teaches at Anthroposophy NYC, an affiliate of the Waldorf School. Lorenzen recently exhibited at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum with the Japan Print Society, and is included in an upcoming UNESCO - sponsored “Mathematics of Planet Earth 2013” exhibition in 2014. Past exhibitions / venues include Memorial Sloan - Kettering Cancer Center inFusion Gallery, Canadian Botanical Association / L’ Association Botanique du Canada at Thompson Rivers University, Hudson Valley Seed Library, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Gallery, NY, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. As a musician, Lorenzen is a member of Gamelan Kusuma Laras and a past member of Gamelan Dharma Swara, two traditional Indonesian orchestras in NYC. Hosted by the Indonesian Consulate General of New York, they performed in many New York area venues including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Asia Society, Lincoln Center, Trinity Church, Tibet House, and Yale University.
