Brian Kakas is an American sculptor that has been working within the ceramic art field for more than ten years. He received his MFA in ceramics from The University of Notre Dame in 2007. During his masters he focused on large-scale mold making techniques for ceramic vessels through various research grants. He has also studied at Maryland Institute College of Art and The University of Montana, where received his BFA. In 2002, Kakas was a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation. He has been in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the States. Most recently he recieved the silver award at the 5th World Ceramic Biennale Korea International Competition (2009). This competition is view as one of the most important ceramic events in the world and is hosted by the Icheon World Ceramic Center in Korea. Brian has taught and assisted workshops at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Australian National University. He also just most recently returned from a residency at the FuLe International Museum of Ceramic Arts in China. And held exhibitions of his recent works in the 798 Arts District in Beijing and at the Jia Pingao Museum in Xian.
