Colin was born in Minnesota. After receiving his MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art (2011), he is currently a Professor in the Printmaking Department, residing in Baltimore, Maryland.

Colin focuses his practice on semiotics theory, language(s), text, a discourse of labor=tools, context, utility of meaning, and sardonic humor, as well as formal elements of visual thinking.

Some of his influences are poets Charles Simic and William Carlos Williams, writer David Foster Wallace, critic Dave Hickey, and the seminal punk music of The Minutemen and Fugazi, riff-boogie blues ZZ Top, and in addition to, Modernist composers Young, Reich, Glass, and Jazz improvisation
