David Skora Bio:
I grew up in a small resort town in South Western Michigan where the beauty of Lake Michigan and the
ever-shifting aspects of its shoreline strongly influenced my childhood and later my art. After graduating from Western Michigan State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Graphic Design, I moved to Chicago and worked as a Graphic Designer. During this time I was also very active as a Painter and regularly showed my work in galleries throughout the Mid-west. In the mid 1980’s, I accepted a position as a Graphic Designer on the east coast and moved to Connecticut. A few years later I attended graduate school at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and was awarded a Masters of Fine Arts degree in 1989. Although early on I exhibited mostly 2-dimensional work, I have always had an affinity for sculpture and in late 1990’s I started to experiment with metal and stone.

I live with my family in the Northwest Hills of Connecticut where I paint, sculpt, and design. When not working in my studio or combing the local dumps for materials I am a full-time Professor of Graphic Design at Western Connecticut State University.
