Biography

Fotini Vurgaropulou raised in Lowell, Massachusetts, an industrial mill town, 30 miles north of Boston. She received a BFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1984, a graduate degree in Art Education from the MA College of Art in 1985, and an MFA from Parsons School of Design in 1990. Fotini lives and works in Brooklyn as an artist and as an educator. From 1992-94, she was the director and curator of Dedicated Space, an alternative exhibition space for emerging artists, located in Park Slope. Fotini exhibits regularly and works in a variety of media including, resin, glass, plaster, metal, wax, prints, photography, and other materials.

Her recent exhibitions include installations at Urban Glass, Washington Square Windows, AIR Project Space, galleries in Chelsea, Soho and the East Village, Sculpture Installation at Darmouth, NYU, RISD, Columbia, NYU and LI University, and at Superfine, BWAC Pier Show, and the Dumbo Arts Festival in Brooklyn. Her Publications include catalogs in 2007, 2003, 1994 and various articles in arts magazines,newspapers, web pages and in Curated Artist Registies.
