Kylie Heidenheimer (b. Gainesville, Florida) traverses canvas surfaces with shifts in mark, line and pigment pool scale in her abstract paintings. Her final works are diaphanous as well a filled with color and paint materiality. Tensions emerge between looseness and tautness. Heidenheimer has a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MFA from Hunter College. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Gallery 532 Thomas Jaeckel, NYC; Galerie Gris, Hudson, New York; Ohio Northern University, Ada, OH; The Italian Academy at Columbia University, NYC and J.C. Flowers, NYC. Heidenheimer has participated in group exhibitions at Private Public Gallery, Hudson, NY; The Emily Harvey Foundation, NYC; Zürcher Gallery, NYC; 56 Henry, NYC; Waterhouse Dodd Gallery, NYC; O’Flaherty’s, NYC; UT Knoxville, TN and the Irwin J. Miller School of Architecture, Columbus, IN.
Heidenheimer attended Yaddo as a Janet Sloane Resident in February 2020. She was also at Yaddo in 2016 in addition to attending residencies at St. Mary's College of Maryland; Blue Mountain Center; The Millay Colony and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Heidenheimer won a New York Studio School Mercedes Matter Alumni Award in 2021 and a Jason McCoy Gallery Drawing Challenge in 2020. The New York Times has cited her work. Heidenheimer lives and works in New York City and the Hudson Valley. She will have a solo exhibition at Private Public Gallery in Hudson, New York in late 2025.
