I grew up in upstate NY and my summers were spent traversing the Finger Lakes on our family boat. My father passed on to me his love of nature and water that is still evident in all my work.

I received a BFA from Moore College Of Art and Design in Philadelphia and completed a year of Graduate Studies called 5th Year Program. Recently I took a course in Public Art with Nancy Blum at Penland School of Crafts in NC. I’m experimenting with new mediums like glass, mosaics, murals and large paintings on theater scrim with lighting for public art commission proposals.

I recently completed a 2-week course at the Corning Museum of Glass learning techniques of sand blasting and fit painting to create layered imagery in kiln fired glass.

I study the energy of life force found in nature exploring its commonalities with human experience. In partnership with the laws of nature, I pour paint and allow it to run and puddle forming natural occurring markings.
My paintings and sculptures imitate the organic flow of nature and natural formations, drawing inspiration from aerial photography, the ocean, lakes of my childhood, and the creek in my neighborhood.

The paintings on Plexiglas consist of 2 or 3 separate pieces of Plexiglas that are framed at the top and bottom with the sides left open. When light shines through them color is cast on the wall creating yet another layer. Their transparency alludes to microorganisms on slides furthering the reference to similarities between our bodies and nature.

In addition to my paintings, I have “returned” to my fashion design roots with fabric and fiber in multi-component sculptures. The work leans toward abstraction yet it is based on observation and reverence for nature. Color and gesture are exploited to illustrate the power and beauty of nature.
