BIOGRAPHY
Monica Davis grew up in Frederick County, Maryland in the eighties and just moved to the beautiful Virginian Peninsula. She has always been the soul searching, kind-hearted and creativity bounded person throughout her life. She always says she wants to do something bigger than herself; meaning she always wants to do good for others and experience everything that life has to offer. Monica began painting ten years ago and has just recently started sharing her work for the first time. After returning home from taking an assignment overseas in the Middle East, she found the outlet and the ability to purge her experiences that are now spread all over her canvases; the finding of familiarity to society, nature’s beauty and herself. In just three months she painted over one-hundred-fifty pieces calling them her ‘Warzone Purging’ Collection; hoping they will also be the catalyst for others to heal.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My most private emotions are immersed within the paintings I have created and with each new piece that evolves is like therapy to me. After being witness to a warzone for more than a year, my eyes became accustomed to the hues of blankness and hostility. Returning home I had to re-acclimate with society, nature’s beauty, and myself - something I had been missing for so long. My vision for my art today is to give myself an outlet to pour my passion into; my hope for my art today is to be the catalyst for the viewer so they may define their own interpretation and heal when observing my work. I am so fortunate to liberatingly create art and am now finally able to show all of it to you. Please enjoy what I call my artistic therapeutic remedies.
UNTITLED REASONING
Monica Davis’ art remains her most private expression of re-connecting to what many of us take for granted every day. Her work is Untitled so it may be the catalyst for the viewer to define their own interpretation and expression of healing when observing her pieces. In that sense, the viewer can once again appreciate what surrounds them not only visually but from within their own self. People can discover their very own artistic therapeutic remedy through each of Monica’s artworks.
