Painter-Printmaker // Artist-Teacher-Student // Gallerist-Curator // Reggio-Inspired // Arts-and-Well-Being //

My artwork is spirited tangible evidence of the process of my attempt to visually understand, interpret, relate with, and connect with that which is directly in front of me; to resonate with/in my environment.

I am a third-generation female artist, from a family of female professional fine arts painters in the American South, each well-schooled in the classical traditions of painting and drawing. Unlike my mother and grandmother, both known for painting portraits of notable individuals, I gravitate to conveying 'portraits' of the landscape and still life.

As an artist-teacher, I lean heavily into the pedagogical philosophies of Reggio Emilia in early childhood education; the methodology of Visual Thinking Skills (VTS) practices; and the traditional elements and principles of art and design. With a technical understanding of a wide variety of media, I seek to be a facilitator of making, reflection, and play, emphasizing exploration of interpretation, awe, and wonder, supported by ongoing assessment/reassessment, and documentation.
