Abstraction from the human figure has been a consistent theme in my work. Through my sculptural practice I distill the experience of the process, and make physical a narrative.

An early fascination with line and form through dance was embodied in wheel-thrown functional cylinders, vases and bowls, which were altered into more sculptural shapes. These abstract, reduced forms were reminiscent of the human figure.

Born in 1957, I was raised in Massachusetts and spent most of my life on either the east or the west coast (California). I am an American citizen.

Since moving to the UK in 1999, I have maintained a sculpture studio and concentrated on abstract figuration, self-defined projects and installations, and teaching Life Sculpture courses.

I have attended various art establishments, studying many fine art forms and ceramics: The California College of the Arts, The University of Connecticut, Laney College (Oakland, CA), The Slade School of Fine Art (London) and The Prince's School of Drawing (London). I have two associate degrees in Fine Arts and Ceramics, and a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice acquired before following my first love, as a maker of art objects and sculptures.

note: I have chosen California here as it was my last state of residency.
