Patricia Smith began exhibiting in New York in the mid-1980s, and since then has established an extensive list of international solo and group exhibitions, curatorial projects and participation in international art fairs. Her museum and institutional exhibitions include those at Torrance Art Museum in Torrance, CA; BRIC in Brooklyn, NY; l’ESAD in Grenoble, France; Centre d'Art Contemporain de Fontaine, France; Austellungsraum Klingental in Basel, Switzerland; Housatonic Museum in Bridgeport, CT; Brooklyn Museum; Stedelijk Museum Aalst in Belgium; Stedelijk Museum Lier in Belgium; Texas Tech University in Lubbock; Weatherspoon Museum at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro and Carlsbad Museum in New Mexico. Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, Art in America, Los Angeles Times, L Magazine and many other national and international publications. She has received numerous awards including a 2014 New York Foundation for the Arts grant and residency awards at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and Kaus Australis in Rotterdam. She currently lives and works in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
