Sparky Campanella is a fine-art photographer living in Los Angeles. His landscape work explores the unexpected and pervasive ways in which a man-made presence complements our natural landscape. His photographs have an emotive intent and tend towards abstraction with a poetic, minimalist aesthetic and a colorful palette. He approaches photography from a personal perspective and is inspired by instances of symbiosis between man and nature. Sparky grew up in Pittsburgh and while his interest in taking photographs began as a young child, it was only in 2005 that he poured all of his time and energy into photography as a second career.
Campanella has shown his work in solo and group exhibitions nationally including Center for Photography at Woodstock, SFCamerawork in San Francisco, Koelsch Gallery in Houston, David Weinberg Gallery in Chicago, Weston Gallery in Carmet and Philadelphia Photo Arts Center in Philadelphia. He holds and undergraduate degree from Duke University and a graduate degree from Stanford University. He has been awarded residencies at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and Anderson Ranch in Colorado. www.campanella.com
