Sampling the process and philosophies of Marcel Duchamp, Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, the use of materials as well as the process play vital roles in my art. As part of a series, I have created works using a grid process as a means of exploring the two-dimensional space, while utilizing the idea of reclaimed items, commonly identified as “found objects These works are comprised of ink on paper which has been printed using a found object, which in this case are the discarded Solarplates from former printmaking projects. Some of the works in this grid series also make use of lettering appropriated from Literature, Culture, Science and Mathematics. The practice of borrowing words from these disciplines and applying them to the medium of painting or printmaking becomes a second form of found object, where language has been reclaimed as visual art.
