Mary Vaneecke

I turned to creating art after years working to 'save the world' working for non-profit organizations in Tucson, Arizona. My art has roots in the great American quilting tradition, and I start with a blank canvas of plain fabric--black or white. I then use additive (painting, laminating, dyeing) or subtractive (bleaching, cutting, burning) processes, and layer and stitch the fabric to create texture, dimension, and durability to each piece.
