The rivers, creeks and coast of Oregon have been the primary subject of Waters’ work and environmental concerns, especially those related to water, have been an important influence on her paintings. Waters' paintings are in the collections of the Hallie Ford Museum of art, Oregon State University, Western Oregon University, Salem Hospital, the Edward Allworth Veteran’s Home in Lebanon, Oregon, the State of Oregon, the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado and in many other private and public locations. Her exhibitions include the Hallie Ford Museum of Art and a solo show at the office of Oregon’s Governor. In 2018, she was a grantee of the National Science Foundation’s Antarctic Artist and Writer’s Program which gave her the opportunity to live and work alongside scientists on the West Antarctic Peninsula. In 2023 she was an Artist in Residence in Illulisat, Greenland.
