BRIAN TOLBERT

Brian R. Tolbert...from that first magic moment as a young Cub Scout watching an image appear on a piece of paper submerged in a sorcerer solution, I was hooked. Here was a way to experience, express and capture all the wonders life has to offer. A high school teacher pointed out that I could even make a career with photography. I was off and running! A scholarship from the PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS OF AMERICA enabled a formal education at the ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY where I received a BFA in Illustrative Photography and later a MASTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY from the PPA. Stints in the U.S. Army, traveling the country as a marketing representative for a college group, and five years with the EASTMAN KODAK CO. as a photographic specialist were the precursor to the ultimate goal of operating and owning my own studio. Over the years I've worked with local, regional and national clients producing photos to help them market and sell their services and products.

My Fine Art work is approached as a documentary photographer. My ongoing projects are....
THE AMISH AMONG US,
CIRCUS MUD SHOWS
STREET MEANDERING
HUMOR/KITSCH
LANDSCAPES
CONCEPTUAL ABSTRACTS

Along with being in private collections, I've exhibited at RIT, Dartmouth, Cornell, and Colby colleges, EASTMAN KODAK at Six Flags Over Georgia & Texas, First Unitarian Church, Dallas, Texas.  I also have participated in group shows at Epcot, Lancaster Summer Arts Festival, Vermont Photo Gallery, City Folk Gallery, Hurst Texas Art Association at Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, Texas, 1st Annual Dallas Festival of Fine Arts, PPA National Conventions, ASMP Philadelphia.
