Carol Rowan

Carol Rowan was born in Rowayton, Connecticut, and received her BFA from Pratt Institute. Her works are held in numerous private and public collections, including the Portland Museum of Art,
American Board of Surgery, the Library of Congress, United Technologies, and the National Institutes of Health

Some of Carol’s favorite subject matter includes the American landscape, architecture in the U.S. and abroad (particularly in Italy and Australia, where she has family), harbors in Maine and elsewhere, humble boats like dinghies, and classical, casual still life scenes.

Her influences include Frederic Edwin Church (a distant relative), Andrew and Jamie Wyeth, and modern masters like Jackson Pollock, Joseph Albers, and George Tooker.
