Cathy Wester

Cathy remembers from an early age watching an Aunt draw in soft pastel and a grandfather make pencil drawings of possible inventions and changes to existing tools.

She Began photography at age 13 with her Dad., using the dining room as a darkroom on winter evenings, thus leaving her Mom in the dark.

She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Dakota in Art/Photography where she studied drawing in charcoal and graphite for two years, however didn’t study drawing with color.

Drawing/Painting with color began in October 2012 with the use of Senelier oil pastels purchased in 1994. and suggested for use (soft pastel ) by the book, “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain”. that she had recently re-read.

Cathy is listed in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Arkansas State Committee and Arkansas Arts Council registries. Her work has been published by Author Pictures at Lebrecht and in books published by Harper Collins.

She lives in Conway, Arkansas, USA with her husband and three cats.
