Darlene Towson

I am an independent photographer, very much inspired by life, and how life forms interact with nature and ourselves. Photography is the tool that gives life to my perception as I explore the possibilities for an image that extends beyond recording the outside world. I enjoy looking through the lens of my camera to capture the initial framework that eventually becomes a fine art print. I seek to remove the technical tropes that permit us to speak about the image as photography or a duplication of reality. Rather, the final rendering allows us to speak about an image as it is -- a reflection of emotions and diverse perspective of the world we live in.

After receiving an education in the public schools of Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, I studied black & white photography at the Corcoran School of Art. I subsequently pursued a B.S. in Technology and Management at the University of Maryland. I reside in Rockville, MD.
