Alexis Avlamis

Alexis Avlamis was born in Athens, Greece in 1979. He received his BFA (hons) in Painting and Mosaic from the Athens School of Fine Arts. He has been selected for «Anthology 2016», Charlie Smith London gallery – the «Artist Statement» show and publication, CICA Museum, South Korea – shortlisted for the Bloom Award, Cologne – selected for 4th Dave Bown Projects, New York, selected for the Mamut Art Project, Istanbul - selected for the Irreversible Art Project exhibition, Miami and is twice a laureate of the International Emerging Artist Award, which saw his works showcased in Dubai and Brussels, respectively. He has attended artist residencies such as Vermont Studio Center, USA – the Beijing Studio Center, China and the Arteles Creative Center, Finland. Publications and interviews include the ArtMaze magazine, Issue 01, Made in Mind magazine, Issue 08, the Fresh Paint Magazine, International Issue 11, Dialogist, Quarterly Poetry&Art Journal (USA), The Best Entries of IEAA award (Dubai) (PixaLib), the Hesa in-print (Helsinki), the Drawing Center’s curated Viewing Program, NY and Art21’s: “Inside the Artist’s Studio” blog, New York (January 2010). He has exhibited internationally and works may be found in private and museum collections, such as the Henan Art Museum, China.

Through improvisation, intuition and by tapping into a stream of consciousness, he constructs “landscapes of the mind” aiming at a cosmic unity, where existing and fabricated visuals are merged.
