Francisco Valdez

Frank Valdez is a contemporary figurative and landscape painter. He is a graduate of UCLA, and has attended both Art College Center of Design and Grand Central Atelier. He currently splits his time between Los Angeles, CA and El Paso, TX.
He paints series of both inhabitants and landscapes in an effort to create a larger, fuller portrait of a specific time and place.

Recent prizes include a Juror's Award at the 2016 Arts International and the Audience Choice Award at the 2015 and 2016 Los Angeles Plein Air Festival. He was also an artist in residence for the city of Santa Monica, CA in 2016.

His work strives to bear witness to the world such as it is, relishing the slow reveal and appreciating beauty where it's not immediately obvious.
His current projects include an ongoing series of El Paso artists, Venice Beach street performers and Los Angeles bus riders.
