Gloria Nixon-Crouch

I am a native New Yorker. I've recently retired from the New York City Department of Education after thirty-four years of teaching service. I have now, the opportunity to spend all my time developing my art.
I am a Ceramic Artist: I create human images, in clay that appear to be struggling to tell the viewer something that they are unable to see with 20/20 vision alone. Like all works of art where the artist has chosen to remain silent about their intentions, an act of empathy is required of the viewer to translate it's meaning. It is only through a personal exercise of emotional/spiritual communication that my images become meaningful. Of course, in such a personal exercise the same work of art will be given a variety of interpretations and thus mean different thing to different people.
