James Pittman

Born and raised in the Tidewater region of Virginia. Graduated from William and Mary College with a degree in art history. Taught and exhibited art in Virginia before moving to Colorado in 1998. Maintains studios in Boulder,CO and Virginia.
His work is abstracted landscape based upon the canyons of the Southwest. The paint is applied in multiple layers with a palette knife. Edges and texture is important to his work. The Denver Art Museum has one of his paintings in their permanent collection.
