Keturah Wasler

I work as an accountant, using my Bachelor Accounting via Robert Morris University; I have always had a passion for all facets of the arts. I've played the violin since I was seven (7) years old following in my Grandmother's footsteps who now, 93, still plays in the local Orchestra.
Personally I had tabled my passions in order to take care of my family. Now that my children are older i have re-entered the world of art. My efforts yielded me the 2010 Leon Arkus Award at the Centennial exhibit at the Carnegie Museum.
My work is edgy in the manner of rendering the tone by concisely provoking the admirer. As I am not one to ignore reality I use that character in my work. My attitude is optimistic and jovial about life but my observations often depict the flip side to that attitude. I work with various media on various topics to having no meter or reasoning at all. This temperament affords me the opportunity to explore my talent; challenging my imagination to convey it as I dream it or as the world propagates an ideology. I currently have 3 series of works I prioritize my time with
American Way: The game of Life and debt depicts the images via multimedia an artistic grasp of the affect of debt on citizens in the US and Abroad.
The series of Lunch time art are sketches I have drawn in an hour or less on my lunch breaks. This was begun for shits and giggles mostly and now I quite a few sketches. The range from a moment when I saw my finger dial a phone and Eureka I was struck with an idea to a memory of a plight.
Finally the Revelations Series is aiming to provoke contemplation of self. With the medium of model/props(constructed or available)/ skill and camera I work to capture the account of emotion. Not finitely specifying the question or statement and often using the moment to function as a gauge to a condition with one’s self. Through the eye cup of a camera I watch people trying to locate the right mask for the appropriate situation, the most alluring body language or the most appalling – as a means to their end. The result most often are impermanent leaving people to consume and want. By locating the condition with an artistic reflection I hope to entice a bridge; as this condition reaches all borders.
Previously as a crew mate at Three Rivers Rowing Association I was member of the first Minority Rowing team to medal in the United States-Healthy Hearts and Souls. I have a Silver and Bronze Medal for with my Mates and am proud of the accomplishment. I have been an athlete all my life and Rowing of all team sports truly teaches synchronicity. Learning to row and Learning to Row with others has enhanced my Taiji practice tremendously and mentally it’s easier to accept a raging wave and be able to ride that out that to struggle against it wearing and tearing self into failure and loss. So in other sports I see more of a reactionary momentum of offense or defense though in every activity of life diplomacy in its essence is a guiding light to anyone in its employ.
I would enjoy my concepts participating in exhibits where art is the diplomat to the world.
