If you stand a certain way. Hold your head a certain way. A good guard dog would consider that a threat and alert everybody. Your cat might bail out and disappear. There is an element of communication that does not involve language and words. Totally separate. That's the visual world where we are evaluating what we see all the time and interpreting that.
My adventure in the art world is to be sensitive to particularly visual ways of communication. An art patron would be well advised to be sensitive to visual communication that does not involve words. Art critics review of an art show is a whole different world. Suddenly, the art critic wants to be able to put in language. Oh that that is a painting of a dog. That is a painting of Linda. That has a scene almost like a Turner sunset. Being focused on words and how to describe a visual thing loses most everything in the translation from visual to language. Because language just isn't that good. Do art critics even write about color and feeling?
