The source for much of my drawings, paintings and sculpture is my imaginary world called Mushroomville. In my practice it is an emotional landscape to place narrative details about my life and the larger society I live in. Mushhromville is an all female society nestled in the desolation wilderness. The mushroom as metaphor serves as a teaching tool, distinguishing between something that is nutritious versus something that is poisonous. The process in my image making is like making a big soup of ideas and feelings. The soup is my metaphor for relationships--all these different people in my life connected through their love of soup are, in a way, another kind of soup. So my pieces ,whether 2D or 3D, leapfrog over each other expressing the complexities ,politics and interconnection of our relationships.
