Lisa Heikka-Huber

Currently I am an MFA student of Spatial Art at San Jose State University in California. Recently I graduated in 2022 from Cal Poly Humboldt with a BFA in Sculpture/Small Metals as well as a BA in Political Science focused on water policy and globalization. Additionally, I have been a glass artist for over two decades, primarily sculpting blown glass figurative forms. Beyond the arts I am deeply interested in the intersectionality of impacts causing marine degradation, globally. Currently I am training as a Scientific Diver within the American Academy of Underwater Sciences through the Cal Poly Humboldt diving program. Diving the cold coastal waters of Northern California is inspirational to my work both in art as well as in all things relating to water politics. Today my art practice helps me to process my own journey through time as well as bring awareness to the environmental degradation due to human impact.
