Marilyn Johansen

Marilyn brings her life experiences to her art, having lived from Belgium to Okinawa and places in between. She grew up the daughter of a US Air Force Fighter pilot during Korea, Cold War and Vietnam. Her artistic studies began at age ten. She conducts demonstrations in watercolor, judges, shows and teaches acrylic and watercolor classes at Art Serve in Fort Lauderdale. She enjoys painting in all mediums. Marilyn is a member of local and national societies. She has signature status with the Miami Watercolor Society, Palm Beach Watercolor Society, Gold Coast Watercolor Society, Florida Watercolor Society and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. She has served as President of the Florida Watercolor Society and Gold Coast Watercolor Society. Marilyn’s most recent awards Best in Show Broward Art Guild Members Show 2013; First Place Award, Miami Watercolor Society Fall Show 2013; First Place Award, Venetian Art Society 2014; Best in Show Miami Watercolor Society Spring Show 2014; First Place Award, Boca Raton Museum Artists’ Guild 2014. First Place Award Plantation Art Guild Spring Exhibition 2016; First Place Award Miami Watercolor Society 43rd Annual Spring Show 2016; Best in Show awarding in the Palm Beach Watercolor Society Fall Exhibition 2016; Honorable mention in the 2016 Pennsylvania Watercolor Society; winning the Duane Whitney Martin Award with the American Society of Aviation Artists 2016 and the 2017 Bronze Award in the Southern Watercolor Society.
