Sarupa Sidaarth

Born in India, Sarupa Sidaarth studied at Sir J.J. School of Art and received her MFA from Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
She is inspired by embellishment, an ancient and universal visual language used in various cultures for centuries. Through mark making and the power of ornament her work expresses a need for change and explores the possibility of the new.
Her work was featured in San Francisco's Atelier Gallery in 2012. She has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions in India, France and United States. She was recently selected for the Golden Foundation Residency in New York and NordArt in Germany. Her achievements include awards at Academy of Art Annual Exhibition in 2010 and a Fellowship to France in 2011.
