Janusz Walentynowicz

Born in Poland 1956,
Family fled Communist Poland in 1960.
Grew up in Denmark, where I from my late teens worked as an autodidact artist in clay and stoneware
1978 - 1982. Skolen for Brugskunst (now Danmarks Designskole)
1982-1992. Illinois State University
At ISU, I studied under Prof. Joel Phillip Myers, at the school's glass dept.
During this time, I also established my own Studio, where I worked as a sculptor with cast glass as my material.
Having in the early years worked with several artists, among them Joel Myers for whom I blew his large vessels, and for Nicholas Africano, for whom I made his figures in cast glass.
I have since then and op to present, been working in my own studio in Illinois, and have recently added a studio in Denmark, where I spend part of the year.
Where most artists working in glass are mostly concerned with the material's seductiveness and beauty, I am mostly concerned with its sculptural values and am thus using it as any other sculptural material.
