Darlene Mowatt

Darlene is an awarded and accomplished artist in drawing, watercolor and oil painting residing in Pinckney, Michigan. She received her oil painting training as an apprentice with David E. Weaver, 1956-2010, Master of Flemish Realism and continues to study with other nationally known artist. Her oils consist of small daily paintings, plein air paintings, small and large studio works all created from life or her own photographs.

She actively displays and sells locally and participates in large exhibits. Lansing City Streets exhibit 2011. Ann Arbor Art Centers Annual 30 x 30 exhibit 2011 and 2012. Emerging artist East Lansing Art Fair 2013. 2013 commissioned by First Martin Corporation of Ann Arbor for their permanent collection. 2013 Crooked Tree Arts Center 33rd Annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibit. 2014 Lansing Art Gallery Juried Exhibit. 2014 GLPAPA Juried Plein Air Exhibit, Crooked Tree Arts, Petoskey, Mi.

Locally she stays involved with several art groups and joined Oil Painters of America in 2014. She maintains a membership with Dailypaintworks.com selling all over the world. Currently Darlene is working on a series involving period clothing and figurative work, continuing to paint still life's, and landscapes. Her work is contemporary realism saturated with color creating a bold presence. The paintings demand attention while the compositions reflect ordinary matters.
