Statement:

My studio practice is rooted in drawing the perceptual and experiential landscape. Seeking out dense pockets of wilderness near urban areas, I depict a sense of refuge and encounter amidst the tangle. I rely on a lengthy drawing method, returning over many sessions to work entirely from observation. The time spent in drawing an environment entails the occurrence of multiple encounters and memories within that space, and the drawings become a visual accumulation of those experiences.
