Luis Alvarez Roure, b. 1976.

Luis Álvarez Roure is an award-winning artist known for his figure and still-life paintings as well as his portraits of internationally known personalities such as Philip Glass, Paul Volcker, Justino Díaz, Joshua Bell, Steven Isserlis, and Cándido Camero among others. He was the Draper Grand Prize winner and the People’s Choice Award of the 24th Portrait Society of America's International Portrait Competition celebrated in Atlanta, GA in April, 2022. Previous to that, he was a finalist at The Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition and was part of two consecutive exhibitions at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery; The Outwin 2019: American Portraiture Today, and Recent Acquisitions. In 2018 and 2020 the portraits of Philip Glass and Joshua Bell, were acquired by the Smithsonian Institution for their permanent collection. Other important collections to home Roure's work include The Museu Europeu d'Art Modern in Barcelona, The Federal Reserve in Washington D.C., and The Steinway Hall in New York City.

In 2020, Roure was named Living Master by the Art Renewal Center Organization.
