Anne Mavor

Though she has lived in Portland, OR, since 1990, Anne Mavor claims Woods Hole, MA as her hometown. She has a BA in visual art from Kirkland College and an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University, LA. During the feminist art movement in Los Angeles in the 1980s, she was a member of the collaborative performance group, The Waitresses, as well as doing solo performances. She is the author of Strong Hearts, Inspired Minds: 21 artists who are mothers tell their stories. Since 2009 she has focused on encaustic painting and developed a technique of painting with watercolors on wax. Her ongoing series, Mounds and Stones, is about connecting with her heritage and family.
