Christina Siu is a fine art artist using the photographic medium to capture nature. Her photography career began in 2011 when she attended the Hallmark Institute of Photography in the Berkshires of Massachusetts, USA. Here, she learned to see light as it falls on her subject. Although Christina learned the technicalities of photography at Hallmark and commercial and portrait photography, the trajectory of her art took a long and unhurried pace.
After much reflection about her process, in 2020, she came to the conclusion that she creates from intuition. Intuition fuels her decisions on what and how she photographs her subjects and how she processes them in the digital darkroom. The themes in Christina’s life are reflected in her art. Influenced by the movie “The Matrix”, the traditional Chinese landscape paintings, literature (mostly dystopian), and individuals with non-traditional views, her themes include individuality, exploration, light, non-conformity, curiosity, open-mindedness, the ability to dream, to thoroughly observe the world around one’s self, and to “free your mind”. Christina’s work has shown internationally and received an honorable mention in 2016 for her piece “Remembrance” in Colors of Humanity Art Gallery’s online show, “Landscapes”. Two of her fractal art pieces received special recognition in Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery’s “3rd Annual ‘555 Special’ Art Exhibition - Summer 2021”.
Residing in Pennsylvania, USA, Christina continues to capture worlds overlooked or unseen by many. Her next step as an artist takes her into multimedia art where she will continue to interpret light but also add in the concept of positive vibrational energy.
