David Abecassis is a painter who explores installation. His last exhibit was at Field Projects Gallery in New York. He has shown at numerous other galleries including Mercer Union in Toronto Canada, at the New York Armory and at the Bronx River Art Center-currently showing at Monmouth Museum.
I work in painting using images from the personal and public as source. I explore how memory connects us as people. When one can identify with another’s memory close to or distanced from fact, it creates a sense of the common. Hopefully the emotions solicited from looking can repair some discord or fissure. I try to pull common threads and weave them into commentary on life’s musings and tragedies.
