David O'Brien

David O’Brien is an artist, designer and architect living and working in Los Angeles. He was born in Washington D.C. and holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Virginia Tech. He worked on international museum projects for famed architect Frank Gehry before pursuing his own career as an artist.

David has held solo art exhibitions in Los Angeles, Berlin and New Mexico, including his first solo museum exhibition in 2016 at the Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe. His first major public art commission was completed in 2017 for the state of New Mexico. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions including shows at LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) and MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Los Angeles. His current practice makes use of drawing, video, photography, painting and printmaking.

David travels extensively often making artwork on-site. His work documents found natural phenomena in unexpected ways, and questions traditional views of waste, nature, human intervention in the landscape and the passage of time.
