The Abstractions of the Mind series is a new collections of images that was developed through the release of internal anxiety, and optimism. There is an invisible barrier that is ever present that will manifest itself as a spike wall that surrounds us, and cause damage when we try to move though it’s sharp porous surface. How do we navigate a maze of the mind? The answer is as simple as prayer, listening, and following your voice for guidance. The expressive nature of the action style of painting allowed me to use a more aggressive, and cathartic approach to the application of the paint, and not having the tactile connection expose interesting interplay of colors, textures, shapes, and atmospheric perspective. I was heavily inspired by Jackson Pollack, Vassily Kandinsky, and Mr. Sam Gilliam. I want to present a diverse collection image that will covey my inner emotional state creatively. I did not want to copy their individual styles but only the essence of their approach in technique. I did not want to touch the paper and tried to limit the amount of time a brush was used to apply the inks or paint. This process was not an action that did not require a great deal of inner thought, and has firm roots in a representational reality of daily life occurrences, and history.
